14K and 18K Gold Filled Jewelry
Gold filled jewelry features a tarnish-resistant, water-resistant, and hypoallergenic finish. It is created through a chemical bonding process that permanently bonds thick layers of solid gold over a stainless steel base metal. This results in a much more durable finish compared to gold plated jewelry, which uses only minimal amounts of gold.
Because of this durable construction, your gold filled jewelry can be worn daily and is generally safe for occasional exposure to water without needing to be removed every time you wash your hands.
How to Clean Your Gold Filled Jewelry
To keep your jewelry looking its best, gently wipe it with a soft cloth to remove dirt and oils. For a deeper clean, use a soft toothbrush with warm water and a small amount of Dawn® dish soap, then gently scrub, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a soft cloth.
Keeping Your Gold Filled Jewelry Beautiful
Over time, gold filled jewelry may naturally lose some of its shine. To help preserve its luster for years to come, we recommend removing your jewelry before swimming in pools or the ocean, showering, applying lotions or oils, and exercising. Proper care will help keep your jewelry looking beautiful for everyday wear.
Gold Vermeil Jewelry
Gold vermeil (pronounced ver-may) is high-quality gold-plated jewelry made by coating sterling silver with a thick layer of gold. While durable, gold vermeil is not intended for constant water exposure, as sterling silver naturally develops a patina over time.
How to Clean Your Vermeil Jewelry
To help preserve the beauty and longevity of your jewelry, we recommend limiting contact with water, lotions, perfumes, and other chemicals. After wearing, gently wipe your jewelry with a soft cloth to remove oils and residue. Store it in a dry pouch or jewelry box to help prevent scratches and tarnishing.
With proper care, your gold vermeil jewelry will maintain its beautiful finish for years to come.
Gold Plated Jewelry
Gold plated jewelry is typically plated over brass. The gold layer used in this process is very thin, which causes the finish to wear off more quickly. Because of this, gold plated jewelry is not tarnish-free and not water-resistant.
Custom Designed Beaded Jewelry
All beaded jewelry is made in-house using a variety of gemstones, brass finishes, gold-filled finishes, and/or gold-plated materials. The specific finish used will be clearly indicated in each individual listing.
Please note that due to the natural characteristics of gemstones including variations in size, color, and inclusions. Each piece is unique, and we cannot guarantee that every item will look exactly the same. Additionally, colors may vary slightly due to differences between computer monitors and in-person viewing.
To keep your handmade jewelry looking its best (even though gold-filled chain and wire are water-resistant and tarnish-resistant), exposure to water and chemicals may tarnish or dull gemstones over time. Please refrain from wearing your jewelry in the shower, pool, or ocean, and avoid wearing it while working out. We also recommend avoiding contact with perfumes, lotions, and oils.
